What the Free plan limit actually stops

The Free plan includes 25 open improvements across your whole organisation, unlimited contributors, the full register and the complete audit log, with no time limit.
What "open" means
An improvement counts toward the limit while its status is one that represents outstanding work. Completing, rejecting or archiving one frees a slot immediately.
What happens at the limit
Not what you might expect, so it is worth being exact:
- Everything you already have stays fully editable. Nothing becomes read-only.
- Creating a new open improvement is refused.
- A status change that would cross the limit is refused — so a completed item cannot be reopened while you are at 25.
There is no ordering that identifies "the ones over the limit", because there is no such thing: the limit is a count, not a set.
Making room
Use Select items to archive on the list view to archive several at once. The confirmation names how many you have selected and how far under the limit it leaves you, and the result tells you how many were actually archived — which can be fewer than you selected if some had already been archived.
Archiving is not deletion. Archived items stay readable and stay in your evidence packs.
